Whole-Tone Piano Service is owned and operated by Logan Brittain, CPT. I started my piano technician journey at Northside Music Co. in Lafayette, IN, where I serviced hundreds of pianos over two years. In 2026, I received my certification through the Piano Technician Academy and moved to Urbana, IL with the dream of providing affordable piano maintenance and repair services to Central Illinois.

Tuning
The most important part of caring for a piano is regular maintenance. Most pianos need to be tuned at least once yearly to keep small changes in temperature and humidity from throwing the instrument out of pitch and upsetting the careful balance of 20 tons of string tension. If a piano hasn’t been serviced in multiple years, these problems will compound, and more than one tuning may be required to bring it to a playable state.
Regulation and Voicing
From the most discerning concert pianists to those taking their first lessons, no one likes playing a piano with bum notes or keys that stick. Most smaller or incidental issues can be addressed for little-to-no extra charge at a regular tuning appointment, but for extensive issues affecting much or all of the scale of the piano, a separate regulation and/or voicing appointment may be required.
Repair
Occasionally, whether from poor craftsmanship, aging materials, or improper use, parts in pianos break. Sometimes – especially in the case of the former two reasons – they start to break all at once. Even the smallest points of failure can have noticeable effects on the function of your piano. When that happens, you can trust Whole-Tone to use high quality replacement parts and industry-standard procedures to return your instrument to working order.
